Lazy weekend means Homemade Facial Mask courtesy of Pinterest

I knew it was going to be another fabulously rainy weekend in the Ham so I decided it would be a good time to catch up on some reading, crafting and maybe try out a few recent pins from Pinterest.  Bizzy was less than enthused.  I started out Friday night by trying out a Homemade Facial Mask recipe that I had pinned earlier on during the week.  There were a bunch of different recipes but I decided to go with the one that I had all the ingredients for already even though it didn’t seem like the one I needed the most  (yes, I’m that lazy).

2 tbsp. Orange Juice
2 tbsp. Baking Soda (or more if you need more exfoliation)

  1. Mix ingredients.
  2. Wait about 45 seconds so that the mixture thickens up a bit.
  3. Use fingertips to smear an even layer on face and neck.
  4. Let mask dry for 20 minutes.
  5. Using warm water, slowly rinse the mixture off your face by moving your fingertips in small circles.
  6. Apply facial lotion.

This was a really quick mask, which I appreciated, but it sure was messy!  My mask never really thickened like I was expecting so I wound up kind of splashing the mixture on my face while I was hanging over the sink.  Then I just used my fingertips to work everything around.  The site did warn that it would be itchy but OH MY GOSH was it itchy.  And apparently very enticing to puppies, I spent the 20 minutes the mask was hardening pushing Bizzy away from my face.
Lesson:  Do NOT taste the mask unless Pinterest specifically tells you to.
This mask was supposed to brighten the skin, remove blackheads and reduce the appearance of pores.  Well, my face was bright red afterwards so I would say my skin was brightened…. I didn’t really have any blackheads to begin with so I’m not sure about that one…. And I’d say my pores were the same size as before.  Basically it was a really good smelling exfoliant.  My skin was definitely very soft afterwards but I already use a daily exfoliant so I’m not sure if I’ll be doing this Homemade Mask again anytime soon.  It was really fun actually doing something I had pinned! And it was a great way to start off my lazy weekend.  My craft project isn’t done yet but hopefully I’ll be able to finish that project tonight! I hope you all had a wonderful weekend as well!
