I'm an Aunt!

She is perfect.  That’s just all I can say.  Meridian Anna Michel is perfect.  I haven’t regretted moving to Alabama in the least until I spent the weekend in Austin with my new niece (don’t get any ideas- I’m still not moving back Mom).  I don’t really regret moving, I just wish I were able to see Meridian more! Babies grow SO fast and I don’t want to miss anything.  The comforting thought is that she probably won’t even start remembering stuff until she’s like 3? 4? so I’m good to go for at least that long.  Maybe by that time I can convince my brother and sister-in-law to move to Seattle with me! That thought makes me REALLY happy.

We had a really fun weekend though!  It’s crazy how much Meridian looks like my sister-in-law but she makes some of the same facial expressions as my brother.  I’m not sure whether that means she looks philosophical or he looks like he’s discovering colors for the first time but it’s the truth.  And what awesome parents?!  Seriously, I don’t know how any of you Moms and Dads do it but imagine having to be first time parents AND live in a fairly small apartment with your in-laws(sister-in-law’s folks, who are the nicest ever-but still)!  I was so impressed all weekend by my sibs, Meridian is really lucky.  They even still had time to help me take out the trash.  But my sister had to be wheeled because she’s still pretty weak from everything.  Such a trooper :)

A little blurry but she's def being pushed on a walker
Anyways, I’ll be needing lots of aunt advice.  I have some pretty awesome aunts myself to take cues from but I’m ready to take this up a couple of notches.  Especially since I live so far away!
